 Chalet Desgranges is located in the Forgeassoud Dessous area of St Jean de Sixt (see map for directions), a 5 minute walk to the nearest boulangerie for some of the best breakfast croissants in the town. The ski bus shuttle stops at the top of the road.
The chalet was named after Henri Degranges, the founder of the Tour de France – the tour itself has passed through the region on several occasions, most recently July 2009, when the stage finished at Le Grand Bornand.
 Built in 2006 in the typical Savoyard style, the chalet comprises 3 levels – ground floor, with garage, 2nd floor living area with kitchen and 3rd floor bedrooms and bathrooms. The elevation allows for fantastic views into the Thones valley and up to into the Aravis mountains.
 Bright, modern and homely, the chalet is furnished to a high standard. The balconies and terrace are south-west facing and enjoy extended hours of sunshine – the terrace is the perfect spot for alpine sundowners!
The chalet overlooks alpine pastures to the front, where cows from the local farm graze in the spring months, before being transferred to higher mountain pastures. Their milk is used to make Reblochon and Tomme cheeses and is available to buy from the farm .
Beyond the meadow is a pine clad forest, springs and miniature waterfalls which can be heard distinctly at night. It is possible to walk in the forest as there are a number of marked snowshoe trails for the winter and equally in the summer. Venture ten minutes into the forest and you will come across a clearing with a Bungi jump, open in the summer months. The walk also takes you into St Jean where the trail finishes conveniently by the tourist office.
If you follow the road left out of the property, it is possible to drive through small hamlets and farms right upto Villards sur Thones.
The chalet can sleep upto 10 people.

The management of the chalet is handled by English speaking agents, who will be on hand during your stay to check you in, explain how things work and generally be on hand should you have any queries.
