The renowned cycling endurance test, le Tour de France will once again pass through the Haute Savoie region with top riders battling it out for the coveted yellow jersey. It is an extraordinary event, attracting millions of roadside spectators and is every bit the equal of the Football World Cup and Olympics in terms of popularity, stirring Gallic passions and intense rivalries year after year. The King of the Mountains polka dot jersey will be decided in the mountains passes surrounding the Chalet Desgranges. 2007 will see the end of stage 7 and the start of stage 8 in Grand Bornand on 14th and 15th of July. Stage 7 will take the Peleton over the famed Col De la Colombière. Watch the thrilling race whizz past you at speeds over 50kph on the roads around St Jean de Sixt, whilst you enjoy a glass of local Crepis wine and a plate of local cheese, charcuterie and baguette.
