triathlon training
The origin of triathlon is anecdotally attributed to races across France during the 1920-1930s called ‘Les trois sports’. Nowadays, the mountainous region surrounding the lake at Annecy has particular strong associations with the tri-part sport. Not surprising really, when Annecy can boast one of the cleanest, freshwater lakes in Europe for open water swimming, some of the toughest mountain climbs for cycling and idyllic alpine scenery to run in. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Annecy triathlon on July 8th.
Chalet Desgranges is the perfect base to undertake a triathlon training programme, with swim training available at Annecy lake (20 minute drive), running trails from flat to almost vertical and cycling along and up the celebrated Tour de France peaks of Col de la Colombière and Col de Croix Fry.
